A Recommitment to Nashville360VR

Well well well. Here we are.

It's been nearly two years since my work and my other interests nudged this blog off my priorities list. Recently having been gifted, by my dear wife, an Oculus Go, I it is back on.

I am currently using my iPhone 6s and Occipital360 for collecting images around my native city, and I shall continue to do so for an undetermined time. One benefit of the long lapse is that past sites can be revisited and comparison brought to the table. An example of this is West Park. You may recall the series (see previous posts) detailing the unfortunate storm damage to this project, setting it back, by some estimations, by as much as two years. A recent article in 372WN says that our Metro Council rep, Mary Carolyn Roberts has scheduled and cancelled no less than two ribbon cutting ceremonies for the park's opening (and is "not scheduling another one"). I walked down there the other day and took a couple 360s. Visit Occipital to get the full image, and here is the flat one:

West Park Take 3!!!

Wow. Okay, it blew over again. Again they are making progress, but as one person on Nextdoor The Nations mused, I wonder how much it's costing to keep starting over. That would be a good investigative article for a headline hunter. Inquiring minds want to know. Her are a few pics, including a 360, of that project's most recent weather related mishap.

Btw, I Periscoped this storm coming in and it truly was magnificent. Little did I know it was to blow this project down. Again.

West Park take 2

In just 3 weeks or so, these guys have made extraordinary progress. When I was taking this, I could hear the squeaky sound of the bolts tightening on the lumber as they begin to assemble the skin on the structure skeleton.

Cool. Next target? The iconic deserted silo structure at the top of 51st Avenue. I'm working on my technique and as a teaser, I'll put up one I'm not so happy with but which will give you an idea of where I will be going when I do a retake, to be posted by next week...
